Labeling Instruction to Cover Worldwide Regions Labeling and safety conformity are technical aspects that may be covered in some blogs and sites, but those are not necessarily precise. This can bring a large loss if they are not done properly as customs worldwide are tightening their standards, they may not bring in merchandise that doesn’t conform to the regulations. We at Hero Time work closely with BUREAU VERITAS the most recognized safety testing lab worldwide to ensure all our instructions are up to date and will get you the safety certificates you need for your game. Here we will provide you some specific guidelines in regards to labeling and marks you should put on your box. Please note that these rules are most crucial for games and toys played by children under the age of 14 (in the USA it is 12, but better to keep it at 14).

Types of certificates and Documents 1. CPC – Child Product Certificate in the US - To get a CPC you will need to pass all the ASTM f963 requirements. 2. CE certificate is for EU and you will need to pass all the EN71, if your game is for kids under the age of 6, the REACH tests are also recommended. 3. AU/NZS 8124, is for Australia and New Zealand. You only need the test report 4. ISO 8124 is for Canada and worldwide, you only need the test report

Informative Labeling for Tracking - Mandatory According to the EU, ISO (global), and USA regulations both the manufacturer and the seller need to have their information on the box. The required information is as follows: *Please fill in the information in light blue

Manufacturer Name: Hero Time Limited Address: 3rd Floor, Building 1, No. 1, Sihai Avenue, Choujiang Street, Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province, China Date of Production/ DOP: “You can input one specific day, not necessarily a range” Seller, Distributor, or Creator Name: “Your name – you can choose anyone of the three” Address: “Your address” Contact Information: Email or Phone number Batch Number: “any code you choose, for example AB1000” *if your game is for 14+ you can simply mention the manufacturer’s name, the address is not crucial.

Safety Label Icons Safety Label Icons are icons with crucial information, largely the following three: 1- Recommended age of players 2- Warning Sign 3- “Not For Children” Icon

Recommended Age of Players  

While you must add an Age Range for your game, you do not have to use the file we added in the list, you can have your own design, as long as it represents the point clearly. For the Age Range you write try and stay true to the actual age range. If you intentionally mislead and declare an older age range and a younger kid plays the game and something happened, you will be subjected to penalties. If you want to sell your game on Amazon, you will need to put the recommended age of players, if you put there an age lower than 12 or 14 y.o , you will need to show your safety certificate.

Size requirements for “Not for Children” and “Warning Sign”  

“Not for Children” Icon cannot be under 0.39inch (10mm) in diameter (the red lines and spacing between elements cannot change) The Warning Sign depends on the size of the display surface as is shown in the table below: A. For small boxes of up to 5*6inches (12.7x15.24cm) or anything that has a display front of less than 30 square inches (190 cm2), the “WARNING” word and triangle cannot be under 1/8 inch (3.3mm). B. In medium games with a display front of between 30-100 square inch (190-645 square cm), the “WARNING” word and triangle cannot be under 5/32 inch (4.1mm). C. For large game with a display front 100-400square inch (645-2580 cm2), the “WARNING” word and triangle cannot be under 1/4 inch (6.4mm). *Do not touch the other words, simply enlarge the whole box as one piece so they will adjust accordingly.

Additional notes:     

The background color of the WARNING label can be changed to white just make sure the Triangle is kept yellow The spacing between the letters of the labels cannot be changed. Don’t try to edit the files themselves, otherwise they will not pass the safety tests. In the USA, if the game is for children under the age of 6, the warning label needs to be in the front of the box The labels have to be placed on the permanent parts in the game, it cannot be placed as a sticker on the shrink wrap, nor on a one-time packaging. If you are using a tuckbox only, try and leave a warning sign also on one card within the deck (recommended – can be avoided in some cases)

Conformity Marks In the EU and UK products need to affix the of the CE and UKCA  

these conformity marks cannot be under 5mm in height. The ratio between the height and width of the label cannot be changed. Make sure that when you resize you don’t accidently change the ratio.

The USA, Canada, Australia and all other countries do not have a Conformity Mark requirement. However, 

 

If you want to add safety test marks for the USA, you can add the words “Complies with ASTM F963 standards”. These words can be in any font, in any size. Just make sure that the letters ASTM are clear and visible. If you want to add a mark for Australia and New Zealand you can add the words “Complies with AS/NZS 8124 Standards” These words can be in any font, in any size. Canada at the moment uses the CE standards or Worldwide ISO standards, if you want to add the ISO standards you can add the words “Complies with ISO 8124 standards” These words can be in any font, in any size.
