Safety & Conformity Marks
Reminder: Products for 14 and under may require safety testing!
What is a Choking Hazard?
What is a toy? Anything designed or intended to be played by Children under 14 years of age
▪ Non-circular items (e.g. wood pieces, dice) under 33mm at their widest ▪ Balls or marbles under 45mm in diameter ▪ Balloons or soft latex pieces that can get stuck in airways ▪ Strings, straps, or ropes over 280mm in length
Warning & Hazard The text must indicate what kind of hazard is present in the game, eg: Small parts, Sharp edges, etc.
Note: The EU and US differ on when choking hazard is tested — the EU tests after a child tear test, the US before. This can affect certain components (e.g. lamination).
USA If the game is for children under the age of 6, the Warning sign must be on front.

Attention on sharp edges!
The warning and labels should also be on one of the cards and playing pieces
Sharp edges are tested against a soft sponge. The piece is spun against it to imitate child play. If the sponge gets scratched or damaged, it's considered a sharp edge. If that edge isn't essential to the product, it fails safety.

This CE logo represents the European market and certifies that the goods comply
Since Jan 2021 UKCA has replaced the CE mark for goods to the UK
WARNING!
USA, AU & NZ, ROW On Tuckbox and softpackages!
Do NOT change any of the ratios in the warning sign. When changing the size, scale warning sign, CE, UKCA, as one piece. If you need to scale it, do it as a whole.
No conformity marks. You can add "Complies With" ASTM F963 (US) or the applicable standard for your market. See full list below.
